Key qualifications

My research interests primarily revolve around the relationships between politics, institutions, civil society and industry with a main focus on environmental governance, natural resource management and climate policy. In my previous projects, I have studied oil pipelines and energy infrastructure in the United States, extractive industries in Guatemala, tourism development in Nicaragua, and tourism and the environment in Iceland. Previously, I have also worked in the tourism industry in Iceland, primarily with planning trekking and backpacking trips in Iceland and Greenland. I am particularly interested in how local communities, especially in rural areas, can influence opportunities for establishing good institutions, decision-making processes and practices that facilitate positive environmental and societal changes.
