Our research areas include:

We are rooted in the Arctic and conduct research locally, regionally, and internationally. Established in 1979 in Bodø, Norway, Nordland Research Institute also operates Svolvær and Mo i Rana offices.
We help turn challenges into insight and ideas into action.
Whether you are a municipality addressing complex societal needs, a company navigating the green transition, or a public agency strengthening its preparedness, we deliver research-based support tailored to your needs.
As an Approved Research Organisation by the Research Council of Norway, we are eligible for public research funding, including funding not accessible to private companies. This makes us a strategic and reliable partner for innovation, applied research, and collaborative development.
We follow the ethical guidelines of the National Committee for Research Ethics in the Social Sciences and Humanities (NESH) and uphold academic freedom.
We offer:
Collaborative research and co-creation of knowledge
Strategic analysis and policy advice
Evaluation and impact assessments
