Welfare, health and upbringing

The welfare group at Nordland Research Institute researches the welfare society and welfare services across various societal sectors, for example within education, health, child protection, and housing. We also research living conditions among vulnerable children and young people, the elderly, and queer people. We examine which processes exclude and include, marginalize, or empower.
Our research group participates in evaluations, innovation projects, and collaboration with researchers, professionals, interest organizations, and users. We are concerned with understanding living conditions and welfare from a bottom-up perspective, to develop sustainable welfare systems. We have experience with research in small and large local communities in Northern Norway, and take these insights with us in our analysis of the welfare state.

We are involved in several collaborations, including the Center for Housing and Welfare Research (BOVEL) and the Partnership for Young Inclusion in Nordland.
