André Wallann Larsen, aged 47, has been appointed as the new managing director of Nordland Research Institute (NRI). He will assume office on January 1, 2025.

The current managing director, Iselin Marstrander, announced in February that she would be stepping down after ten years in the role by the end of the year.

Chair of NRI's board, Hulda Gunnlaugsdottir, expressed her pride and happiness at André Wallann Larsen's acceptance of the position. She highlighted Larsen's extensive experience in managing the knowledge sector, having previously served as Bodø2024's director, Nordland Musikkfestuke's director, and Det Norske Solistkor's general manager.

Gunnlaugsdottir praised Larsen's leadership qualities, stating that he has quickly built Bodø2024 into a significant organization with 24 employees and has considerable experience as a board member in various organizations. She also commended Larsen for his understanding of society and ability to build and lead relationships.

André Wallann Larsen expressed his excitement at the opportunity to lead Nordland Research Institute, emphasizing the importance of new knowledge, an interdisciplinary approach, and collaboration with private businesses and the public sector to address future challenges. He aims to develop the institute to play a more critical role in contributing to solutions for future societies.

Before assuming his new role at Nordland Research Institute, Larsen is committed to leading Bodø2024 through the important cultural capital year. He expressed his dedication to finishing the year well with his colleagues, demonstrating his respect for his current role.
