Therese Andrews’ research cover a broad specter of topics within public health and welfare sociology, including tensions between ideology, politics and legislation on the one hand, and professional practices and user experiences on the other hand. Her research also includes topics within cultural sociology (food, body, cultural capital, omnivorousness) and symbolic practices; social capital and social inequality; organizational sociology and sociology of professions, including cooperation across professions, services, municipalities and administrative levels; educational sociology; criminology and restorative justice; and place/space and rural and urban planning. Analyzes of concepts such as health, power, democracy, user participation, empowerment, medicalization and deprofessionalization are also central to her works, as are gender and gender equality.

Doctoral degree in Sociology from the University of Bergen
