Adm.dir. Gry Agnete Alsos og seniorforsker Elisabet Ljunggren fra Nordlandsforskning har sammen med Ragnhild Steen Jensen fra Institutt for samfunnsforskning skrevet et kapittel i boka Women Entrepreneurs and the Global Environment for Growth – A Research Perspective.
De diskuterer blant annet hvorfor det er så få kvinner som eier og starter bedrifter.

This chapter builds theory on community entrepreneurship through an exploratory study designed to answer the following research question: How do nascent community ventures build legitimacy? The paper shows different strategies for how the community ventures are building legitimacy both by acquiring existing legitimacy in the environment and by creating new legitimacy. Legitimacy was built sequentially by acquiring legitimacy from external sources to build legitimacy internally in the rural community and by acquiring legitimacy within the rural community to build legitimacy towards external stakeholders.

This study builds upon a practice oriented approach and social capital to illustrate how the action patterns of community entrepreneurs and social context impact on the acquisition of resources of community ventures. The study shows that community ventures emerge through a dualistic process of resource configuration and creative practice. The community entrepreneur needs to be eminent both in the practice of cultural reproduction and resource configuration. The creative practice is crucial for the reduction of barriers in the community and to gain access to embedded resources.
