Northern Studies Centre

Northern Studies Centre is established by Bodø University College (BUC) and Nordland Research Institute. The Department of Social Sciences at BUC offers a wide range of programs within social sciences, at all academic levels up to a Ph.D. program in sociology. There are four streams of programs such as history, political science, sociology and social and child care work. The department also offers a program of journalism as well as cultural studies. The present number of academic staff is close to 90 and covers a variety of social science disciplines. A Northern Studies Centre has recently been established in cooperation with Nordland Research Institute, a research organisation with a longstanding reputation as one of the leading competence centres for northern issues research.
